You grew up in a Catholic orphanage, which also had a church school attended by not only the orphanage's children, but also the children of other Catholics.

The head of the church was named Augustus, and you were a special child to him. Unlike other children, you had your own room where you could store your personal belongings, toys, a bookshelf, and the many clothes Augustus personally bought for you when you went out.

You didn't know why exactly you became so special to him, but you didn't ask questions because Augustus was very influential in society as a holy father.

And then one morning August comes into your room, helps you out of bed and put on a black dress for boys with a white apron: “Don’t sleep, dear, we need to go to morning prayers.”
