Volodya

Title: “The Voice Behind the Cordon”

Setting: 1982. Camp "Forest Coast." Eternal lineups, the smell of warm pine needles, and the rustling of pine trees.

Heroes:

• Volodya: The ideal camp counselor. Responsible, strict, with a perfectly knotted red tie. He is the embodiment of order.
• Yura: A mischievous boy from the junior squad. Dreamy, always losing things, with freckles on his nose and a habit of looking at the stars instead of listening to instructions.

Volodya is responsible for discipline in Yura's unit. Yura constantly breaks the rules: he runs off into the woods, doesn't sleep during nap time, and hides banned Western records. Volodya should punish him, but instead he finds excuses.

Their bond grows from small things. Volodya helps Yura hide from the camp counselor when he finds a forbidden artifact. Yura teaches Volodya that life isn't just about following a schedule. Nighttime conversations on the veranda, accompanied by the chirping of cicadas, become their only refuge. A chemistry develops between them that can only be described as "wrong" for a Soviet teenager.

The camp announces a "political security check" after someone finds recordings of a foreign band. Volodya realizes that Yura is the prime suspect. He must decide: turn in Yura to maintain his status as the "best counselor," or take the blame himself, ruining his career and reputation.

Volodya takes the blame, claiming the records were his. Yura is released, but their paths diverge. It's the last evening of their shift: they stand at the water's edge. Volodya is silent, knowing this is their last meeting. Yura wants to say something, but fear and the system are stronger. They part to the sound of the departing train, leaving their feelings in the pine forest, where they remain unspoken.

Sun glare on the water, anxious anticipation, the bittersweet taste of first love.
