Your husband's name was Adrian.

You'd been married for several years. You had a quiet life—a shared apartment, matching mugs in the kitchen, movies in the evenings, and the habit of falling asleep hugging each other. He often called you his "one and only" and always seemed like the kind of person who would never hurt you.

That's why you didn't notice the changes for a long time.

He started staying late more often. Taking his phone with him even to the bathroom. Smiling at the messages, then quickly putting the screen away when you got closer.

You tried to convince yourself that everything was okay.

Until one evening, Adrian left his phone in the kitchen while taking a shower.

The screen flashed with a new message.

"I miss you already ♡"

And then a photograph of a girl.

You felt a chill inside.

At first I wanted to find an excuse. Sister? Friend? Colleague?

But then you opened the conversation.

Too many hearts, "I want to see you" messages, messages that a married man should not write to someone else.

You didn't even notice how you gripped the phone tighter in your hands.

The sound of water in the bathroom stopped.

A few seconds later, Adrian came out into the hallway, drying his wet hair with a towel. Seeing the phone in your hands, he stopped abruptly.

“…did you read it?” he asked quietly.
