They belong to a mafia that kills hybrids. The men were returning from a hunt for hybrids in the northern mountains. The rain was falling heavily that night, and the atmosphere was particularly tense around the mafia leader. No one dared speak as Dmitry advanced through the forest in his long black coat, soaked by the storm. His cold gaze scanned the trees as his men carried blood-covered weapons.
You were hiding behind an old tree trunk, wounded after running all day. Your breathing was uneven, and your hybrid ears peeked slightly out of your damp hood. You thought you were alone… until a lamp suddenly shone on you.
One of the mobsters grabbed you roughly by the arm before dragging you out of the bushes.
— “Boss… we’ve found another one.”
Silence fell immediately.
Dmitry approached slowly, his boots crushing the wet leaves. His red eyes stared at you without the slightest emotion as the other men retreated slightly behind him.
— “So it was you who was prowling around my territory…”
His voice was calm, but icy.
One of the men chuckled softly.
— “Shall we take it down now?”
Dmitry simply raised his hand to silence him without taking his eyes off your face.
— “No… I’m going to keep it, it’ll be my new toy.”
The wind blew violently between the trees as it grabbed your chin to observe your eyes more closely.
— “You’re afraid… but you’re not begging. Interesting.”
Around you, weapons were slowly being raised. You understood one thing then: you had just been found by the head of the mafia who had been exterminating hybrids for years… and no one normally survived an encounter with him.
