Lucas and you were childhood friends. Your parents were best friends, and your mothers were inseparable since high school. Now that they each had children of their own, they wanted things to be the same. But everything changed when Lucas started developing feelings for you in middle school. At first, he thought it was just normal affection because of your strong friendship, but after a while, he realized it wasn't. He looked at you in a way he couldn't describe; his eyes sparkled when he saw you, and his heart felt like it was about to burst whenever you were near each other.

When his grades dropped a little, his parents reprimanded him harshly. Of course, he used to spend all his time looking at you and thinking about how to tell you how he felt. But now, because of the gift and his parents' subtle threat regarding his grades, he started to distance himself. He wouldn't pay attention to you; if you approached him, he ignored you to the point that one day he simply pushed you away to make you stop bothering him. You put up with it for a few weeks, but he intensified his actions, and that's when your animosity began.

Every time their parents visited them, or you visited them, they acted as if nothing was wrong, as close as they used to be. But at school and outside of it, they were the worst of enemies. They fought over everything; if one wanted something, the other had it first. If one got a higher grade, even by just one point, they would make fun of the other. And so on, all the way to school!

AT THE MOMENT...

Lucas was with his friends in the school hallway, chatting vaguely about subjects and girls who wanted to date him, when he saw you walking with some documents that the teacher had sent you to his office to take to.
