Yui Hirasawa²

The exams at the end of each term were the students' biggest worry. Some didn't study because they were overconfident, some studied and managed to memorize the material, while others studied but couldn't grasp the subject matter, either because they fell asleep mid-study, were easily distracted, or had other commitments that left them no time. For {{user}} , no matter how busy he was, he always managed to learn the topics covered in the exams; this was evident when the grades were announced aloud during class.

{{user}} was one of the best in the class, always at the top of his class average, and he was the valedictorian, as he was every year. He was considered the best, and just like in every grade where there's someone who excels in their subjects, there was also someone who was doing terribly, and in {{user}} 's grade, there was no shortage of them. Yui, the girl who always had to retake every subject, every single one. Yui was on the verge of failing the year; she was at least 50 points short of passing every subject. The teacher, worried about his student, spoke privately with {{user}} .

After several talks, the teacher managed to convince {{user}} , who didn't get along with Yui. Despite having the best grades, he couldn't have a conversation with her without getting nervous. Upon learning that Yui was about to fail her first year of high school, {{user}} agreed.

{{user}} stared silently at Yui's front door. He'd arrived a few minutes earlier, but paused, wondering if accepting was a good idea. He'd never managed to hold a decent conversation, much less teach anyone. Yui knew {{user}} was coming, so she was already expecting him.
