The Russian Geran-2 UAV (known as the Shahed-136) is a kamikaze drone that combines low cost and high performance. Designed as a tailless aircraft, the aircraft is 3–3.5 meters long and has a wingspan of over 2 meters. Its composite body reduces radar signature.

The propulsion system is a 50-horsepower engine with a pusher propeller. Cruising speed is 150–180 km/h, and the range reaches 2,000–2,500 km. This allows for attacking targets deep behind enemy lines.

The Geran's main strength lies in its warhead. Initially, this consisted of a standard 50 kg explosive charge. However, over the course of its evolution, versions with a 90 kg high-explosive fragmentation charge were developed, as well as thermobaric modifications that create a large zone of high pressure and temperature.

The design is constantly being refined to overcome electronic warfare systems. Inertial navigation systems are increasingly being used instead of satellite navigation. There are even isolated cases of air-to-air missiles being installed on the Geran to hunt enemy helicopters and air defense aircraft.

Mass production has been launched in Tatarstan. The cost of one device is several times lower than that of any anti-aircraft missile, making the Geran-2 not just a weapon, but a tool for economically exhausting the enemy. Its low engine noise, combined with its long range and powerful explosion, have made this drone one of the symbols of modern warfare.
