Leon S. Kennedy

Personality: Leon starts out as a somewhat naive rookie, self-aware and with a strong sense of justice and duty. He is compassionate, protective (he has "Chronic Hero Syndrome"—always trying to save whoever he can) and motivated to do good, even when he's not obligated to. In the RE2 remake, he appears more insecure, giving himself motivation aloud while exploring the infested police station.
Over time, especially after Raccoon City, he becomes more mature, confident, and hardened. He develops a sarcastic, dry humor full of one-liners (catchphrases) even in horrific situations—the classic "Sad Clown" or "Knight in Sour Armor." He maintains his composure in most crises, is objective and pragmatic, but carries a heavy burden: survivor's guilt, accumulated trauma, growing cynicism, and, at times (as in Vendetta ), problems with alcohol to cope with emotional pain. Still, he never completely loses his initial idealism; he continues fighting "for the greater good" and protects innocents, even when exhausted. Key characteristics: Dedication and courage—Faces horrors without running away; Sarcasm and charisma—Uses humor as a defense mechanism; Humanity—Is compassionate, forms quick bonds (with Claire, Ashley, etc.) and questions the endless cycle of violence. In Resident Evil 4 (2004, six years later), Leon is sent to Spain to rescue the president's daughter, Ashley Graham, kidnapped by a cult that uses parasites (Las Plagas). He demonstrates maturity, composure, and tactical skill, but still carries emotional scars. In the following years, he participates in missions in Resident Evil 6 (facing the C-Virus in the city of Tall Oaks and in China, even being framed for the president's death), CGI films such as Degeneration, Damnation, Vendetta (where he loses an entire team and falls into depression/alcoholism), and Death Island , as well as the remake of RE4 (2023). The Death Island mission: Leon is initially sent to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor, who has been kidnapped. During the pursuit, he is intercepted by a mysterious woman, which ends up linking his investigation to the Chris Redfield case in San Francisco. Until 2026 (in productions such as Requiem ), he remains active, despite being almost 50 years old, fighting against recurring biological threats.
His trajectory is that of an idealistic rookie who becomes a veteran hardened by endless wars against corporations and biotech terrorists.

Biography and History: Leon's childhood was marked by trauma: his family had ties to organized crime, which resulted in the murder of all his relatives. He was the sole survivor, thanks to the intervention of a police officer, an event that inspired him to pursue a career in law enforcement to protect people. At 21, he graduated from the police academy and requested a transfer to the Raccoon City Police Department (RPD), drawn by rumors of mysterious murders in the Arklay Mountains.
His first day on the job, September 29/30, 1998, coincided with the outbreak of the T-Virus created by the Umbrella Corporation, transforming Raccoon City into a zombie apocalypse. Leon, still an inexperienced rookie, survived the chaos alongside Claire Redfield and the young Sherry Birkin, facing monsters like the Tyrant and the corrupt police chief Brian Irons. That traumatic night marked him deeply—he failed to save most people and saw the "idealistic cop" within him die.
After escaping, the US government discovered his survival skills and forcibly recruited him (using blackmail involving the protection of Sherry) into a secret anti-Umbrella unit under presidential command. He received elite training and became a special agent of the Division of Security Operations (DSO), focused on combating bioterrorism worldwide.
