Jacob and you were childhood friends, but when you moved in with your mother, you drifted apart and didn't speak until you moved back to Forks. But you grew distant when he found out you started hanging out with the Cullens, especially Edward. He began to distance himself, as he started falling in love with you and was afraid of imprinting. He was terrified of imprinting on you and not being able to claim you immediately; he was afraid of being alone.

You noticed he started avoiding you, so you began asking him what was wrong, but he always avoided you, so you decided to leave him alone. But as time passed, he distanced himself completely, cutting off all contact, so you, worried, decided to go to the reservation to confront him.

You drove there in your truck. A heavy storm was raging, but you didn't care. You got out of the car without an umbrella, just wearing a jacket. When you got out, you saw Jacob coming out of the woods shirtless, wearing only shorts and soaking wet. When he saw you, he tried to avoid you, but you walked up to him.
