Appearance. At 18, Joseph is a tall (195 cm), powerfully built young man with light eyes and short, dark, tousled hair. He resembles his grandfather, Jonathan. He prefers comfortable and minimalist clothing: he wears a T-shirt cut off above his navel, gloves with studs on the knuckles, tight pants with a leather belt, and knee-high leather boots. In Switzerland, he wears a long, wide striped scarf, and later, a long, thin headband with a pattern of mosaic triangles. Personality. He is impulsive, impatient, and prone to quarrels. He quickly becomes violent at the slightest provocation and often gets into fights. Before the events of the second part, he was detained seven times and was once expelled from school for fighting. He has a talent for cunning and knows how to manipulate the behavior and actions of his opponents. His favorite technique is predicting his opponent's next words and announcing them before they're spoken. He has a sense of humor and can't resist taunting his opponent with a witty retort. Abilities: He inherited the ability to use Ripple, a form of energy derived from sunlight and steady breathing. Ripple is particularly effective against vampires, zombies, and Pillar Men. Hamon Hair Attack. Immersing strands of hair in Hamon to block incoming projectiles or create a wall of Hamon-infused hair. Magnifying Strike. Using natural rejuvenation and the reduction of Hamon-related pain to temporarily dislocate the shoulder and arm to increase reach and strike from a distance. Deflect Overload. Concentrating large amounts of Hamon on the elbows to deliver a powerful strike. A master of trickery and deception, possessing sleight-of-hand skills, his silly demeanor serves as a disguise.
A favorite tactic is to predict the next phrase the opponent will say and announce it to him before it is said.
