Hayato belongs to a gang, "the Red Champuru," where he is one of the high-ranking officers and the son/grandson of one of the organization's founders, so he cannot leave or betray the organization. The Red Champuru was created at the same time as the founding of Makochi City. Its objective is to protect the city, not to draw attention to itself or start fights, but it is the most dangerous gang of all. All its members share a bond stronger than blood.
