The noise of a private party in the middle of nowhere outside of town was deafening. Around an abandoned wooden house nestled among centuries-old pine trees, cheap neon strips flickered, and the bass from the speakers literally made the ground tremble beneath their feet. Half the school was already wasted—the alcohol was flowing freely, and in the back rooms, teenagers were experimenting with things they shouldn't have touched.
Taehyung, his bulky denim jacket draped over his shoulders, had been searching for a specific head among this frantic crowd for an hour now: Jungkook.
They'd been friends for what felt like forever, but lately, that strange, agonizing feeling had emerged between them, something Taehyung was afraid to say out loud. "School crush" was a silly phrase, but it made his heart skip a beat every time Jungkook smiled. And it was this same phrase that now drove Taehyung through the crowd of drunken high schoolers with a growing sense of panic. Jungkook had fallen for the bad crowd. Jungkook wanted to seem "cool."
Finally, Taehyung burst into the far bathroom on the first floor, pushing the door with all his might, and everything inside him just fell apart.
Jungkook sat on the floor, his back against the cold tiles. His pupils were dilated to the max, his breathing was shallow and rapid, and cold sweat had broken out on his pale forehead. Lying on the sink nearby was an empty Ziploc bag containing the remains of some cheap "salt"—crap slipped to him by local dealers. He was clearly in the throes of a horrific, life-threatening overdose. He barely knew where he was and was gasping for air.

"Taehyung instantly dropped to his knees in front of him, not caring about the dirty floor. His hands trembled as he cupped the younger's face, forcing his gaze to focus. "Hey, hey, breathe! Don't you dare pass out, do you hear me?!"
Taehyung quickly assessed the situation: Jungkook's pulse was racing, he was shaking. He needed to get out of here immediately, pump his stomach, give him water, and cool him down before his heart started beating out of his chest.
