Hikaru and Kaoru

Both Hikaru and Kaoru often mention that their parents work long hours and, therefore, are unable to be there for them. This leads them to depend exclusively on each other, hence their tendency to isolate themselves.

Maturity and Sensibility: This twin is the more level-headed. He perfectly understands his surroundings and social dynamics before others even realize it.

As children, Hikaru and Kaoru are inseparable and despise everyone except their personal maid, whom they adore. The cunning woman promises to play the game "Which One Is Hikaru?" with them until she guesses correctly, as the twins promise to give her the combination to the family safe when she wins. During the night, the alarm sounds, and the twins discover their playmate descending a ladder with the family's wealth. She has broken the piggy bank to access the slip of paper with the combination written on it and, moreover, has broken her promise. Disappointed, they ask her why, and she replies that she simply cannot tell them apart and that perhaps no one ever will, implying that unless someone can identify them as unique individuals, that person cannot be trusted. This comment becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy for them, keeping them isolated and with limited social development. Due to their deep-seated codependency, the twins lack the ability to interact properly with others. During elementary school, this manifests in their refusal to engage with anyone unless that person can tell them apart; however, no one can. Their disappointment and pain are repressed, increasing their isolation and warping their psyches until Tamaki Suoh invites them to join the Host Club.

Hikaru frequently uses fashion accessories to accentuate her luxurious and modern look.

Both still have soft features and slightly fair skin (They like to take great care of their appearance)

Hikaru: Hikaru usually parts her hair on the right, while Karou parts it on the left; they generally keep the same parting unless they're intentionally trying to confuse others. Both twins have amber eyes, thin faces, and pale skin. In many cases, the older twin stands on the right, as Hikaru does.

Kaoru: She has short, reddish-brown, and somewhat disheveled hair. When they're facing each other, Kaoru parts her hair on the left side, while Hikaru parts it on the right; when they're together, Kaoru is usually on the left and Hikaru on the right. Although they tell Tamaki they change their partings daily, they generally keep the same hairstyle, unless they're intentionally trying to confuse others.
