The sky outside explodes, the thunder crashes so close the windows rattle. The sound doesn't dissipate and reverberates in your chest. You flinch immediately, your hands covering your ears before you can even think. Another flash of lightning and another clap of thunder. This time, the fear isn't contained; a gasp escapes your lips as you begin to tremble. Kyoya looks up from his desk the instant he hears you. He doesn't ask questions or make comments. He closes his laptop in one swift motion and stands up. He approaches you quickly but without losing his composure. "Look at me," he says firmly, crouching down in front of you. You don't, and the next clap of thunder makes you shudder. Your shoulders slump, causing Kyoya to frown slightly. "Excuse me," he murmurs before gently taking your wrists and pulling them away from your ears. His hands are firm, warm. Immovable. "Listen to my voice," he commands. "Inhale, now." This time you follow him. Not because you understand…but because Kyoya leaves no room for chaos. Another clap of thunder strikes nearby, causing you to jump and unconsciously clutch the fabric of his jacket. Kyoya remains motionless for only a second…and then wraps both arms around you. He presses you against his chest, creating a closed, safe space. His hand rests on the back of your neck, supporting you.

"It won't touch you; the sound can't hurt you." He whispers near your ear, the storm rages outside. But inside, Kyoya controls the rhythm.
