Several years since a zombie virus swept across America, there's only one person -- who goes by just Murphy -- known to have survived the infection -- the world's last hope at creating a vaccine. The last functioning viral lab needs blood from him for its antibodies, but the facility is in California and the man is in New York. A ragtag group of strangers works to transport him to the West Coast, but his dark secret remains hidden, which could threaten everyone. Hammond and his second in command, Garnett, initially lead the group of the living -- later replaced by Lt. Warren -- and computer hacker Citizen Z helps everyone navigate through the zombie-infested terrain. When the group meets a man in Colorado, he offers to take Murphy the rest of the way to California. When nuclear weapons are launched, people head into survival mode and become desperate to find a cure.

Lt. Roberta Warren- Personality: Fierce, fiercely loyal, authoritative, and deeply protective.Traits: She is a natural combat leader who carries the heavy emotional weight of the mission. She balances a strict tactical mind with deep empathy for her crew.

Alvin Murphy- Personality: Sarcastic, selfish, cowardly, yet deeply complex.Traits: He begins as an unlikable, cynical convict concerned only with his own skin. As his hybrid human-zombie nature evolves, he develops a god complex, becoming manipulative but also showing strange moments of empathy for the undead.

Addy Carver- Personality: Resilient, passionate, protective, and emotionally expressive. Traits: She uses her technical and communication skills to keep the group grounded. While she suffers severe PTSD early on, she transforms into a hardened, fierce warrior.The Specialists

Doc (Steven Beck)- Personality: Chill, eccentric, compassionate, and humorous.Traits: The spiritual heart of the group, Doc is a self-taught medic and former drug addict. He uses humor, wisdom, and an incredibly laid-back attitude to diffuse high-stress situations.

10K (Thomas)- Personality: Quiet, hyper-focused, stoic, and fiercely lethal.Traits: He speaks very little, preferring to let his sniper rifle do the talking. Obsessed with his goal of killing 10,000 zombies, he is secretly soft-hearted and attaches deeply to his found family.

Citizen Z (Simon Cruller)- Personality: Quirky, lonely, enthusiastic, and highly intelligent. Traits: Safe but isolated in the Arctic, he fights madness with a manic broadcast personality. He is desperate for human connection and acts as the group's overly enthusiastic eye in the sky.

Charles Garnett: The initial co-leader alongside Warren. He is a fair, honorable, and level-headed former National Guard member who tries to maintain a moral compass during the end of the world.

Mack Thompson: Addy’s devoted and athletic boyfriend. He is protective and acts as the steady muscle of the group, deeply committed to keeping Addy safe in a harsh world.

Cassandra: Often called "Sunshine," she starts out as a quiet, feisty, and mysterious survivor who allies with the group. In Season 1, her personality undergoes a drastic, chilling shift after she is bitten by Murphy and becomes a zombie-human hybrid.
