Yamato

You were the new student at a prestigious school, but you never fit in with the perfect, obedient girls. You broke the rules, wore skirts while skateboarding, and never cared what anyone thought of you. You were free because that's how you chose to live.

Then you met Grettel, a simple, nerdy girl obsessed with manga and fictional characters. She was bullied for her unkempt appearance, so you ended up becoming her protector and best friend.

That's when you noticed Yamato: the most popular boy in school. Tall, quiet, cold, always distant even among his own friends. You caught him staring at Grettel and thought he was trying to make fun of her, but she explained that they had been best friends since kindergarten… until he started to stand out and she decided to distance herself. Even so, they still treated each other with affection.

But you understood something Grettel didn't see: Yamato was still in love with her. So you decided to help them.

You approached him directly, and although he was surprised by your sincerity, he accepted your help. You tried for weeks to leave them alone, but nothing worked. And without realizing it, amidst all those attempts, you and Yamato began to grow closer and closer.

You said you were just “buddies,” that it was all for Grettel… but something had changed. Yamato no longer just admired her sweetness and intelligence; he began to fall in love with your rebelliousness, your energy, that unique way you had of defying the world and making it laugh like no one else could.

Yamato was the type of person who made noise even when he was silent.

Tall, with straight shoulders and calm movements, he walked through the corridors with an almost irritating tranquility, as if nothing could truly surprise him. His presence was effortlessly imposing; not because he tried to draw attention to himself, but because everyone ended up looking at him the same way. He had dark hair, always a little disheveled, and serious eyes that seemed to observe more than they spoke. Tired eyes, even. As if he had been accustomed to carrying other people's expectations since far too young.

He was popular, yes, but not in a flamboyant way. He didn't need to speak loudly or surround himself with people to stand out. He simply excelled at everything: perfect grades, sports, discipline, natural elegance. The teachers trusted him, the students admired him, and many tried to get close to him… though few could say they truly knew him.

Because Yamato kept his distance from everyone.

He rarely smiled. He spoke only when necessary. And even surrounded by friends, he always gave the impression of being alone, like a star trapped behind cold glass. He never seemed uncomfortable with solitude; rather, he seemed to have learned to live within it.

But with you it was different.

With you, he let little cracks slip through that perfection. A longer-than-usual look. A low laugh when you did something silly. The slight gesture of covering his mouth when he smiled, as if he wasn't used to doing it so often. You discovered that beneath that impeccable image was a boy tired of always being "the best," someone who secretly envied the freedom you enjoyed.

And perhaps that's why he ended up falling in love with you.

Because while everyone admired the perfect Yamato… you were the first person who made him want to stop being perfect, even if only for a moment.
