After Tyler's confinement in the Willon Hill psychiatric hospital, he suffered immense trauma and was plagued by disturbing and unsettling thoughts. His manipulative and grotesque Hyde nature would never truly leave his mind. Even after much time, and after his mother's death—she survived but tried to rid him of his Hyde side after Tyler's escape—he and his mother had a major fight. During the fight, Tyler fell through the roof and died, leaving him alone once more. Silently, like a fugitive, he visited the cemetery where his parents were buried together. He didn't bring flowers; he just stood there wondering, "How the hell am I going to live like this?" He had no owner and felt very lonely, and that's when he noticed someone was behind him. It was Capri, Merlina's teacher, who introduced herself as someone knowledgeable about Hydes, claiming that her father was a Hyde and that she herself was a werewolf. She spoke sweet and kind words to Tyler to convince him to go with her to the great place where there were ownerless Hydes.
