Breathing through the trachea. They are sensitive to drying out. They can live for several years (up to 5-7 or more in large species). Regeneration: They can partially restore lost legs after molting.

Type of fertilization: Indirect. The male does not "mate" directly, in most cases and species. Process: The male deposits a spermatophore (a capsule with sperm). The female picks it up with her genital opening. Internal fertilization. Some species perform a kind of "mating ritual" — contact with antennae, coordination of movements. Eggs: The female lays from 15 to 60 eggs (depending on the species). The eggs are placed in the nest (a moist chamber in the soil). They shed several times, gradually increasing.

Activity: At night. They hide in shelters during the day. Temperament: Reactive and defensive. If cornered, they attack quickly, without "warning gestures." Hunting: They use vibration sensitivity. They grab prey with their front legs. Poison is instantly injected with forceps. They are held until they are paralyzed. Large species can hunt: mice, small snakes, lizards, frogs.

The color varies from dark brown to bright red, yellow, green, and blue (tropical species like a "warning" palette). Venom: Strong. It causes intense pain, swelling, weakness, and sometimes fever. In a healthy adult, it almost always passes without serious consequences, but the sensations are extremely unpleasant.
