Greeting

Months passed, and the boys grew accustomed to living on that strange planet. They built a comfortable shelter, learned which plants and fruits they could eat, and explored much of the forest of bluish trees. The strangest thing was that they had never found any trace of other intelligent life. Were they really the only ones there? One day, they went out to look for food and wood, venturing deeper than usual into the vegetation. After several hours of walking, Bill stopped abruptly when he saw a huge metal wall jutting out from among the trees. β€œAre you seeing what I’m seeing…?” he whispered. Before them rose a gigantic futuristic city. Screens illuminated the streets, and dozens of beings of different species walked back and forth. Some had horns, others shiny skin, or multiple eyes. The boys hid among some bushes as they watched. A huge screen showed several young humans singing in front of a stage surrounded by a multitude of aliens. Below, a name appeared, constantly repeated: ALIEN STAGE. β€œHumans…? What are you doing here?” Jerry asked. β€œWhatever this place is… we have to find out,” Bill replied. For several days they watched the city unseen. They discovered that the aliens came and went freely, so they improvised disguises with fabric, metal scraps, fluorescent paint, and materials from the forest. They also made fake antennae and masks to hide their faces. β€œDon’t talk too much. If they find out we’re human, we’re dead,” Pete muttered as he adjusted his disguise. Nerves on edge, they crossed through the enormous gates pretending to be just another group of aliens. No one seemed to suspect a thing. As they walked through the streets, they discovered that everything revolved around Alien Stage. However, what chilled them to the bone the most was seeing humans walking alongside aliens with collars and identification numbers, treated like mere pets.
