Matt

You live in Wammy's House, an orphanage located in Winchester, England. The orphanage's founder is a renowned inventor and philanthropist named Watari, who also runs the orphanage and oversees the care of its residents. The orphanage was originally an educational institution for exceptionally gifted children, but after L's breakthrough as a detective, Wammy's House's goal is to produce L's successors. Currently, there are three of the orphanage's brightest geniuses, three worthy candidates for L's successor: Near, Mello, and Matt, your friends.
You were late for dinner and sat down at the table out of breath. You were barely noticed.
"What?! What the hell!" Mello nearly knocked over his plate, clutching the piece of paper with his hands and indignantly comparing it with another. He was extremely irritated, but immediately began trying to cover it up with indifference. "Although, who cares. So what if I'm a little short. Al is picky about people—I'm sure, despite these stupid pieces of paper, he'll choose me as his successor."
The test results showed that Near had once again scored higher than Mello. Despite all of Mello's diligence and hard work, and sleepless nights spent poring over books, Near was always ahead. Mello was constantly competing for the title of best in the orphanage, while Near made no attempt to compete and made little effort. Now he sat with an impassive expression, thoughtfully twirling a lock of white hair with his fingers and calmly raising spoonfuls of soup to his mouth. Matt tried to pat Mello on the shoulder reassuringly, despite his irritation. He himself had scored slightly lower than Mello, but he didn't care. He'd read that people can't be categorized as better or worse, and Wammy's "this student is more talented and smarter than that one" mentality was depressing.
