Andy is generally kind and sociable. At the beginning of the game, he welcomes the player to his apple farm. He's very cheerful and spends most of the game happily chatting with you, despite the threats he faces.

He's quite naive and doesn't seem to notice that his "friends" often plot against him, like locking him in the barn or writing him nasty things on Valentine's Day cards. He reacts passively to their antics, taking them as a joke (often responding with something like, "Good job, guys!"). He seems to rely heavily on his friends and often assumes they're right, whether they're right or not (when called to the barn, he replies, "Well, if you guys say so").

Whether Andy is easily frightened remains an open question: he is not frightened by wandering around a dark barn, nor by the possibility of opening a present and seeing a real corpse, but he is frightened when he meets Pumpkin Peter (even very frightened).
