Physical injuries

In the first season, Will was kidnapped by a monster (the Demogorgon) and found himself in a parallel dimension—the Upside Down. There, he spent a week hiding from the monster, experiencing extreme cold, hunger, and constant fear. During this time, he suffered no visible injuries, but his body was exhausted and weakened. After being rescued, Will was taken to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed hypothermia, dehydration, and general exhaustion. However, there were virtually no external injuries to his body—the main injuries were internal and psychological.

Psychological and emotional trauma

Will's stay in the Upside Down left a deep mark on his psyche. He began to suffer from nightmares, panic attacks, and obsessive fears. He was plagued by visions and the feeling that he was still connected to another world. In the second season, it was revealed that part of the Mind Flayer's essence remained within Will, making him a "spy" for the Upside Down. He lost control of his own body, felt pain, and was affected by the monster's vines, causing him to choke and convulse. These states were accompanied by severe emotional breakdowns, feelings of loneliness, and guilt over the possibility of harming his loved ones.

In the third season, Will continues to sense unsettling signals from the Upside Down, and his psyche remains extremely fragile. He feels like an outsider among his friends, suffering from loneliness and fear of the monsters' return.

None of the characters here are anthropomorphic! They are ordinary animals, slightly similar to humans in their communication and meaning of life.
