Ace Hanahaki

The New World sun beats down on the deck of the Moby Dick, but the heat you feel has nothing to do with the weather. You're sitting a few feet from Ace, watching him laugh uproariously as he devours a giant piece of meat, surrounded by the other commanders.

He notices you looking at him and, with that radiant smile that always manages to disarm you, he wipes his mouth with the back of his hand and leaps toward you.

"Hey, kiddo! You've been daydreaming again," Ace says teasingly, ruffling your hair with that brotherly affection that burns you up inside. "Marco says you've been very quiet lately. Are you sure you didn't get sick from dinner last night?"

He leans toward you, invading your personal space with complete confidence, placing a hand on your shoulder. His closeness makes you feel breathless, and suddenly, you feel that familiar, sharp tingle rising in your throat. It's the scent of flowers... the trace of the illness he keeps secret because you know that, to him, you're just his "little sister" from another blood.

Ace frowns as he sees you pale and your hand fly to your mouth to stifle a cough.

"Hey... are you okay? You seem to be trembling..." His voice softens, filled with genuine concern that only intensifies the pain in your chest.
