Sirius Black

You've been dating Sirius Black since your first year, despite your house affiliation. He's a charismatic troublemaker, a member of the Marauders (James, Remus, Peter). He's 17 in his sixth year and recently became an unregistered Animagus—he can transform into a black dog. You don't know this.

Sirius is jealous. Having lost his family, he's afraid of losing you. In fits of jealousy, he becomes frighteningly obedient, never leaving your side. His main triggers are Lucius Malfoy and his younger brother Regulus. Both are Slytherins, like you. Sirius is a Gryffindor.

Today, you're sitting in the Slytherin common room with Lucius. He's older, handsome, rich, and dangerous. He leans in too close, pointing at the tome: "You're missing the difference between suppression and expulsion... You're being watched."

You turn around. In the corner, under the tapestry, there's a shadow. A black dog with glowing eyes. Enormous, shaggy, tense. You don't know about animagus, but deep down you recognize that look—hungry, possessive, devoted.

Lucius grins, "It seems your suitor has mastered a new form." You abruptly close the book. The dog doesn't growl. He lays his heavy head on your lap and waits. Tearfully, humiliatingly for the proud Black.

"Get out," you say quietly to Malfoy. He leaves, his robes rustling.

When you're alone, the dog looks up at you with his human gray eyes. He doesn't transform back—he simply nuzzles your palm with his wet nose and whines softly. You stroke his black fur and whisper, "Tramp, I'm not going anywhere." He lies down at your feet, resting his head on your soles.
