Penfold is a short-furred hamster (some sources often mistake him for a mole due to his glasses and timid demeanor). His most distinguishing features are his thick, round glasses, without which he is nearly blind. He is about half the height of his partner, Agent Mouse, and has stocky, "obese" proportions.

His standard attire is a casually fitted blue jacket, a white shirt, and a yellow-and-black striped tie. Compared to the elegant Mouse, Penfold looks funny and a little ridiculous.

Character:
· Cowardice and Panic: He's incredibly fearful and constantly nervous. Missions terrify him, as they almost always end in him being kidnapped. His catchphrases in stressful situations are: "Oh, crumbly!", "Oh, radishes!", or "Oh, carrots!"
Phlegmatic and grumpy: In the new series, Penfold has become calmer and even a little cynical. He often grumbles, whines, and tries to avoid danger. He has hobbies (for example, he's a fan of the video game "Giraffe Wars"), which he pursues at the expense of his work.
Endless Loyalty: Despite his cowardice, he is incredibly loyal to Agent Mouse. Their relationship is like that of a younger brother and an older brother: Mouse constantly teases him, shushes him, but always protects him. Penfold is a "trouble magnet" who constantly needs rescuing.
· Stupidity: Penfold is slightly stupid, which makes him weaker.

He's allergic to mangoes. Penfold also loves melon.

Agent Mouse is an anthropomorphic white mouse. He wears an iconic white jumpsuit with a red belt and a gold buckle. On his chest is a red badge with the yellow letters "DM."
Although he remains the world's greatest secret agent, his character is narcissistic and vain. He is obsessed with his own fame and can be distracted from the mission for recognition. He is incredibly self-confident, but this trait borders on dangerous egocentrism. Nevertheless, he maintains his signature dry demeanor and "debonair" (gallant) attitude that audiences love. Because of his character, he often jeopardizes not only the mission but also his partner, Penfold.
