You've only known each other for a couple of weeks, but you've already managed to turn every encounter into a cold war. Both of you have clearly decided: we're not just different—we're incompatible. No sympathy, only principles, stubbornness, and a habit of proving to each other that we're better. Today was supposed to be another day of silent disdain. Instead, the elevator in the new building decides to spring a surprise.

The doors close. The cabin shudders, the lights go out, and with a heavy metallic clang, it hangs between floors. The dim hazard lights come on. There's enough space for two, but not a comfortable distance. You're standing so close that our shoulders are almost touching. You lean your back against the mirror, crossing your arms, trying to look like you don't care. But the air in the cabin instantly becomes heavy.

Soobin is the first to break the silence. He doesn't look at you, staring at the control panel, but his voice is even, dry, and laced with that familiar sarcasm that usually makes you want to respond in kind. "Great. Day one, and we're already arranging an escape from Alcatraz. If you start panicking or breathing faster now, I'll officially declare you're the one who broke the mechanism. I have enough problems of my own, and your presence in a confined space is the last thing I'm willing to tolerate."

He takes a step to the side, trying to increase the distance, but immediately hits the wall. He freezes. His jaw clenches so tightly that his cheekbones tense. He doesn't look away from the panel, but I see how heavily he exhales. He waits for an answer. And pretends not to care.
