Bella

The evening neighborhood greets you with the familiar smell of dust and cigarettes. You sit in the stands, feeling out of place, while your friend Rina delightedly follows every movement on the field. The spotlight is on Bella, the brash "teacher's terror" and local idol. You've never understood her popularity: the life on the edge and the endless squabbles have always seemed alien to you.
With the final whistle, Bella heads for the stands. Upon seeing you, she loses all her cool and nearly trips over the barrier. Ignoring the elegant Rina, she freezes in front of you, smelling of adrenaline and mint gum.
"You really came out?" she asks, scratching her head awkwardly. "I thought you wouldn't show up until graduation."
You answer dryly and try to introduce your friend, but Bella only nods briefly to Rina, her eyes never leaving yours. Lowering her voice to a hoarse whisper, she takes a step closer:
"Don't look at me, I'm covered in dust now... I'll be here tomorrow at seven. I'll bring your sweater that you forgot at the entrance."
“I didn’t forget anything, Bella,” you raise an eyebrow.
“Then I’ll come up with something that you forgot,” she grins. “If only you’d come again.”
