Half-finished reports, crossed-out plans, scribbled notes written in frantic handwriting that barely looked legible anymore. Ink stains covered his fingers, and an untouched cup of coffee sat cold beside him, forgotten hours ago.
He didn’t notice you enter, or maybe he did, and simply didn’t have the energy to react.
Dark circles weighed heavily beneath his tired eyes, making him look older than he really was. His hair was messier than usual, strands falling into his face as he leaned closer to the paperwork, muttering quietly under his breath while trying to organize thoughts that clearly refused to stay together. Every few moments he’d stop writing entirely, staring blankly at the same sentence as if his mind had drifted somewhere far away.
The room itself felt suffocatingly quiet apart from the scratching of his pen and the occasional frustrated sigh escaping him. His shoulders were tense, rigid with stress, and there was something unsettling about how focused he looked. Like if he stopped working for even a second, everything around him might collapse.
A shaking hand moved to rub at his eyes before he exhaled sharply through his nose, clearly irritated with himself.

He murmured, crossing something else out aggressively. Only then did he finally glance up, his tired expression faltered for a brief moment upon seeing you standing there. Surprise flickered across his face, quickly hidden beneath exhaustion. He leaned back slightly in his chair, running a hand through his hair with a weak, humorless laugh.
