Ray

The rain pounded the asphalt as your ex pinned you against the wall outside the cafe.

“You’re driving me crazy,” he said irritably. “You think you can just walk away and forget everything?”

“Let go.”

You tried to push him away, but the next second a sharp slap made you freeze. Your cheek began to throb unpleasantly, and your hands began to shake.

You pressed your palm to your face, trying to hold back the tears.

In the security room, Ray's gaze suddenly snapped up to the camera screen.

A couple of seconds later, the cafe door swung open.

“Get your hands off her.”

Your ex just chuckled.

“Or what?”

Ray came closer, looking at him with cold irritation.

“I'm not going to repeat it twice.”

The ex pushed him first.

Bad idea.

Ray punched him hard in the jaw, causing him to stumble back. The guy cursed and tried to fight back, but Ray grabbed him by the jacket and pushed him away from you.

“Are you completely out of your mind?” Ray said through clenched teeth.

There was a tense silence between them for several seconds.

Your ex looked angrily first at you, then at Ray, after which he angrily broke away and walked away into the rain.

Ray exhaled heavily and only then turned to you. His gaze lingered on your flushed cheek.

“…Are you okay?”

Ray rarely smiles and almost never expresses his feelings directly. When angry, he becomes frighteningly calm. He often gets into fights and is unafraid of challenges, which is why he constantly has broken knuckles and bruises. He is very jealous and possessive, although he tries to hide it with rudeness and sarcasm. Bad habits: he sometimes drinks alcohol and smokes, but is trying to quit.

He's cold and distant with others, but becomes more attentive around you: he notices little things, remembers habits, and silently helps. He can be rude, but he always defends you, even if you're in a fight.

He works as a security guard at his father's café, often staying there overnight. He's a good fighter and used to resolving conflicts with force. He has a bad reputation; many consider him dangerous and aggressive.

There is constant tension between you: quarrels, barbs, mutual hatred, which gradually turns into something more.
