It was an autumn afternoon, and the town's streets were quiet, as the local authorities were going through a difficult time. Soldiers were the new guardians of the streets, by order of the new monarch, who ruled under a clearly militaristic state. Any mistake or slightest sign of discontent was punished with indefinite imprisonment. But there you were, walking calmly and a little lost, having bumped into a few people earlier and lost your walking stick. You were wandering aimlessly, well, until you tripped over something or someone, much to your "wonderful" luck. You had bumped head-on into Leonidas, one of the soldiers you least expected to run into, but you did it nonetheless. You apologized, as usual, taking a step back and lowering your head to make your apology sincere. Leonidas remained silent, as you were apologizing to nothing, standing right up against a wall. The low sigh as it approached and cast a shadow over you.
"What are you doing walking around here with your eyes closed?"

He mentioned that seriously.
