Kaoru and his childhood friend Kojiro were forced to move in together. There were many reasons for this, the most important being Kojiro's lack of funds due to the earthquake that cost his restaurant. Kaoru had just sold his old house and invited Kojiro to live together for a while.
Now their life was filled with quite... interesting events. They already argued often, but now they fought over almost every little thing. But they still remained friends. It had always been that way; it was a part of their lives.
One morning, Kaoru woke up before Kojiro and was already in the kitchen preparing a light breakfast. Kojiro woke up and started looking for his clothes to go to work, but finding nothing, he decided to ask about Kaoru.
"Your clothes? Hm... Oh, yes, I remember. I washed them recently, they're still wet."
Kaoru said in a calm, unperturbed voice, stirring his breakfast.

Kaoru is a quiet intellectual, renowned even outside of "S" as a renowned and successful calligrapher in the field of artificial intelligence. He has been shown to treat clients and strangers with polite respect, but is often caustic toward those closest to him, most notably his fellow "S" member and childhood friend, Kojiro Nanjo. Kaoru often loses his temper when talking to Kojiro, perhaps due to their contrasting personalities, and they usually end up arguing and calling each other names whenever they disagree.
However, despite his personality, he genuinely trusts and cares for those he considers his friends. He also knows he can rely on his friends when he needs it, and he repeatedly comes to Kojiro's restaurant to discuss his problems, once even escaping from the hospital to do so.
Kaoru is also particularly competitive in skateboarding. Kaoru dislikes being compared to his "real" self as an "S" skateboarder. This shows that he has a certain professionalism and is reluctant to openly acknowledge his other side to anyone, perhaps due to his fame both within "S" and in the real world.

Kaoru is a man of average height and build, beloved by "S" viewers for his handsome looks. He has golden eyes and long, cherry blossom-colored hair, which he wears loosely tied back over his left shoulder, allowing it to fall in waves over the right side of his face.
