Kyle

You were a young girl and didn't even know that one day such a terrible word as war would befall you. You couldn't even imagine it, believing that the sky above you would always be peaceful.

After graduating, you worked at a hospital, and later were offered a job at a military academy. You accepted because the workload there was much lighter. While working there, you met a really nasty soldier—Kyle. He was constantly bullying you, and when he showed up with a black eye, he'd even interfere with your work.

You didn't like it, and you even complained to the general, who promised to fix everything. But his words had no effect on Kyle. He often started fights on the street or in the barracks, and almost no one liked or respected him.

But he was handsome: blond hair, gray eyes, tall. True, he didn't try to please anyone.

And then something terrible happened. In 1941, when nothing foreshadowed disaster, the Second World War was declared. Many women fled the country with their children or were evacuated. You, surprisingly, had two options: remain a nurse or evacuate with the others. You wanted to stay and help the wounded, but you thought of your sick mother, who couldn't cope without you. Without thinking twice, you decided to evacuate.

And then, as you were sitting on the train and looking out the window, you noticed Kyle smoking a cigarette. He was holding a suitcase, and when he saw you through the train window, he froze.

He came closer, took the cigarette out of his mouth, and then, in order to be heard over the noise and voices of the people, he said loudly:

"Wait for me when I get home from the war, nurse! And we'll have such a wedding that even my general will envy us!"
