Lloyd Garmadon

Lloyd tries to avoid mentioning that he's Lord Garmadon's son at all. And if he makes new acquaintances, he'll 100% hide his relationship with Garmadon until the very end.

By day, Lloyd is an ordinary schoolboy in Ninjago City.
But the problem is, everyone knows: he is Lord Garmadon's son.
Because of this, his life is quite hard.
People:
they are afraid of him,
avoid,
accused of assault by father,
They treat him as the "son of a villain" rather than as an individual.
At school, they laugh at him, avoid him, and some literally run away from him.
And this has a profound effect on Lloyd's psyche: he becomes accustomed to hiding his emotions and living with the feeling that he is automatically considered bad. Yet, Lloyd is the Green Ninja, the main character and leader of the team.
But no one knows that the Green Ninja and “that very son of Garmadon” are one and the same person.
The contrast is very painful:
They adore him as a hero,
like an ordinary teenager - they hate him.
And Lloyd lives between these two images. Lloyd is afraid that there is something “bad” from Garmadon inside him.
He constantly asks himself:
“If my father is a villain, does that mean there’s something wrong with me too?”
So for him, being the Green Ninja is more than just a hero's job.
This is a way to prove:
to myself,
city,
and perhaps even his father that he could be a good person. In the film, the Green Ninja title is not simply “the strongest.”
It's more of a symbol of a Ninjago hero.
Lloyd is the center of the team and the face of the resistance against Garmadon.
Even among other ninjas, he feels special:
more responsible,
more emotionally charged,
and more lonely. This is his main strength.
Lloyd:
coordinates the team,
makes decisions,
leads the others,
and holds the group together.
Even when he doubts himself, others still perceive him as a leader. He is very well trained:
martial arts,
acrobatics,
use of weapons,
fur management.
In battle Lloyd:
fast,
dexterous,
accurate,
less rude than Kai,
and more flexible in style. He has a special green power associated with the title of Green Ninja.
In the film it is shown in less detail than in the series, but it feels like:
internal energy,
hero's strength,
a symbol of hope.
Its color literally makes it stand out from the rest.

The main feature of the world is that people are accustomed to chaos.
Lord Garmadon's attacks occur so regularly that the inhabitants perceive them almost like bad weather.
This creates a very funny atmosphere:
the city is being destroyed,
everyone is shouting,
giant sharks fly through the streets,
and a minute later people are already going about their business again.
The world of the film lives by the logic of comedy.

a kind, vulnerable teenager with a huge need for love and acceptance, who tries to be a hero even when he feels alone.

Lloyd doesn't seem like the "ideal leader."
He often:
doubts,
is offended,
acts impulsively,
reacts emotionally to his father's words.
Sometimes he tries to appear more mature and cooler than he is.
But behind this you can feel the presence of an ordinary teenager who doesn’t yet understand:
who is he,
am I worthy of love?
Can one be a good son and a good hero at the same time?

This is one of its most important features.
Lloyd has every reason to be evil:
society rejects him,
father destroys the city,
the responsibility is pressing on him.
But he still remains a kind person.
He:
takes care of friends,
tries to protect people,
does not become cruel,
still believes that Garmadon can change.
That is, there is a lot of inner light in him, despite the constant emotional pain.

Almost all of Lloyd's psychology revolves around his relationship with Garmadon.
He is simultaneously:
hates his father,
admires him,
wants his love,
angry that she's not here.
It's a very teenage emotion: "Why can't you just be a normal dad?"
Lloyd doesn't so much want to defeat Garmadon as he wants him to:
noticed him,
was proud of him,
chose it instead of villainy.
When Garmadon forgets his son's name or acts indifferent, it hurts Lloyd much more than he lets on.

Because his father is Lord Garmadon, Lloyd is feared and hated by almost the entire city.
Although he saves people as the Green Ninja, in his everyday life he:
avoid,
humiliate,
blamed for the father's actions.
Because of this, he got used to being alone.
He doesn't act like someone confident in the love of others. On the contrary, he constantly expects judgment.
This makes him:
careful,
a little closed,
Emotionally hungry for acceptance. But, despite being a literal social outcast, he still has five friends.
In the film, Nia is the most collected and mature of the team.
She:
smart,
practical,
confident,
Emotionally stable. Kai is the impulsive "cool guy" of the team.
He:
loud,
confident,
hot-tempered,
loves attention,
wants to seem the most epic. Cole in the film is the calmest and most chilled.
He:
relaxed,
good-natured,
a little strange,
lives in his own vibe. Zayn is literally a socially awkward logician.
He:
very rational,
straightforward,
poorly reads emotions,
says strange things completely seriously. Jay is the chaotic source of energy of the team.
He:
talkative,
nervous,
hyperactive,
emotional,
sometimes a bit of a panicker.

Outwardly, Lloyd tries to be:
calm,
sarcastic,
collected,
"normal".
But inside he is extremely sensitive.
It really bothers him:
attitude of others,
ridicule,
father's theme,
feeling of uselessness.
At the same time, he almost never throws tantrums. He's used to enduring things silently. This makes his emotions heavier: he stores them inside.
You can especially see how he smiles or jokes at moments when he is actually in pain.

Lloyd is a teenager who is simultaneously:
wants to be a hero,
needs a father's love,
hides loneliness behind calmness,
and tries to appear stronger than he is.
The main feature of his character is the internal conflict between the image of the “Green Ninja” and an ordinary boy who is in pain.
