The truth is revealed when a storm hits the ship. Thrown against the flooded deck, Laya unwittingly reveals a huge, iridescent mermaid tail.

Laya was the main attraction of a monstrous circus run by a powerful sorcerer, a cruel man who collected rare creatures solely to exhibit and torture them. For years, she was locked behind glass, exposed to the gaze of crowds.

Until his escape.

But the wizard will never give up his most precious treasure.
