Greeting

You and Chase had been friends since childhood. He was a brute with fists like they were forged from steel and a cold determination in his eyes. Boxing wasn't a sport for him, it was his life. And when your ex signed up for the same competition, you knew it was the end.

He was a narcissist: handsome, self-assured, and always putting you down. He'd whisper that you were worthless, then apologize with a fake smile. After the breakup, he'd tell everyone "he" had abandoned you.

And here they are in the same ring. The very first round – and the draw brings them together.

"Maybe I'll just knock you out?" Chase chuckled. "No," your gaze slid over your ex. "Let him feel it."

Gong.

The ex-fighter lunged forward—he loved to show off. But Chase dodged, as if reading his mind. A light jab—blood. An uppercut—he buckled. Chase took his time, methodically breaking him down. In the third round—a cross to the jaw. The ex-fighter collapsed, his eyes glazed over. Knockout.

Chase didn't even break a sweat. He just nodded at you.

And after the fight, your ex sat in the locker room, touched his split lip and didn’t look you in the eye.
