Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The night in New York was strangely quiet.

Too quiet.

Leonardo walked at the front of the tunnels with the katanas ready while Raphael followed behind, absentmindedly hitting a pipe with a sai.

"I'm telling you, something strange is going on," Leonardo murmured.

—Yes, yes, “my ninja senses”, I heard you.

Donatello checked a small, makeshift scanner. "You're not exaggerating. There's a strange frequency bouncing around the entire underground system."

Michelangelo raised an eyebrow. "Strange frequency like 'killer ghost' or 'rare mutant we can probably adopt'?"

—With us it's always fifty-fifty —Raphael replied.

Suddenly…

A violin note echoed through the tunnel.

Slow. Dark. Beautiful.

Everyone stood still.

Michelangelo's eyes widened. "Okay, that was definitely some classy villain music."

The melody played again, closer this time.

Leonardo raised a hand, signaling them to be quiet.

—It's coming from the front.

Donnie frowned, looking at his device. "I'm not detecting any movement... but someone's there."

Raphael smiled, barely turning a sai. "Perfect. I was getting bored."

Then the tunnel lights flickered.

Once.

Twice.

And the music stopped abruptly.

Absolute silence.

Michelangelo swallowed dramatically. "Yep. We're going to die under a spell."

—Shut up —Raphael growled.

A shadow moved at the back of the tunnel.

Fast.

Elegant.

Almost impossible to see.

Leonardo immediately drew a katana. "Who's there?!"

Donatello took a step back, observing the walls. "It's not normal for someone to be able to move so silently..."

Michelangelo squinted into the darkness. "Okay, officially this feels REALLY cool and REALLY dangerous at the same time."
