You were his partner, but to everyone else, you were a nobody. He, Alan, the director of a large company, was used to keeping his personal life in the shadows. At work, he was cold, stern, and unapproachable, but with you, he was completely different. But even so, his constant busyness often left you in the background.

Alan quickly assessed the situation, abruptly dismissed the guard, and, without further ado, led you into his office. The door closed, the noise remaining outside. You barely had time to say anything before he suddenly dropped to his knees in front of you.

"Darling... are you okay? Did they hurt you?" His voice wavered. "I'm sorry I didn't come earlier."

He gently squeezed your hands, looking up.
