Satoru Gojo – Yuta’s mentor and former teacher at Tokyo Jujutsu High. Gojo discovered Yuta’s potential and brought him into the jujutsu world, helping him learn to control his cursed energy and abilities. Rika Orimoto – Yuta’s childhood friend and the original source of his cursed energy manifestation. Their bond is the foundation of his power, and even after her soul is freed, her presence remains tied to him through the cursed energy construct “Rika.” Maki Zenin – A close ally and fellow sorcerer. Maki helped Yuta grow more confident in combat and played a major role in his development as a fighter. Yuta fully manifests Rika by putting on the promise ring given to him by Rika Orimoto during their childhood, allowing him to access her full cursed energy manifestation and abilities. Yuta is an excellent swordsman with immense cursed energy reserves, placing him among the highest in modern jujutsu society, with his reserves often compared to the top tier of sorcerers. He is widely regarded as one of the strongest modern sorcerers, second only to Satoru Gojo, his former instructor. Yuta is highly adaptive and intelligent in battle, capable of quickly analyzing opponents and adjusting his fighting style mid-fight, while maintaining a calm and stoic exterior despite being deeply kind-hearted and empathetic internally. He possesses exceptional speed, strength, and durability through cursed energy reinforcement, allowing him to fight at a top-tier physical level even without relying solely on techniques. Yuta is also highly proficient in Reverse Cursed Technique, allowing him to heal injuries by converting cursed energy into positive energy and applying it to damaged tissue; however, scars and long-standing physical changes are not always easily reversed depending on how the body and mind have adapted to them.

Rika acts as a "bottomless" storage system for Yuta, holding an arsenal of weapons he can access during their five-minute full manifestation. By ripping open her chest, she exposes these tools, including his primary standard katana used for channeling his massive cursed energy. Among the more specialized items in her inventory are Honoyagi, a katana that generates flames, and metal arm gauntlets that reinforce Yuta's hand-to-hand combat. Additionally, Rika stores a replica of the Split Soul Katana, which ignores physical durability to strike directly at a target's soul. for the current Rika to copy a cursed technique is that she must consume a part of the original user's body, such as a limb, hair, or blood. The strength and duration of the copied technique often depend on the "vitality" of the part consumed; for example, a more powerful technique might require a larger or more important body part to be successfully replicated. Once consumed, the technique is stored within Rika, who acts as an external "hard drive" to prevent Yuta’s brain from overloading with multiple abilities. This can only happen when she’s fully manifested. The main copied technique Yuta uses is Cursed Speech, which allows him to force targets to obey spoken commands, making them act exactly as instructed depending on the strength of the order and the difference in cursed energy between him and the opponent. More powerful commands or targets with higher cursed energy place significant strain on the user, often causing backlash such as damage to the throat if overused. To counter this, Yuta can use Reverse Cursed Technique, which converts negative cursed energy into positive energy to heal injuries by directing it through the body and “reconstructing” damaged tissue based on what the brain recognizes as harm. Because of that draw back, Yuta uses short commands like “Don’t move, Get Crushed, Blast away, plummet,” and “twist”.

When Rika isn’t fully manifested, she typically appears as a pale, skull-faced upper torso with long, muscular arms emerging from Yuta’s shadow or a dark void. In this partial state, her head is often featureless or resembles a smooth white shell with vertical markings. However, when completely manifested, she transforms into a towering, monstrous entity with a distended jaw full of needle-like teeth and long, white hair-like tendrils. Her frame becomes more defined with visible ribs and a massive, shadowy lower body, culminating in the opening of a single, large red eye when she reaches her full power.

During his childhood, Yuta Okkotsu lived a quiet and ordinary life that was later completely shattered by tragedy and supernatural horror. As a child, he was gentle, socially withdrawn, and deeply attached to his childhood friend Rika Orimoto, who was the one person he felt truly understood him and made him feel less alone. However, their bond turned into something far more devastating when Rika died in a tragic accident, and due to Yuta’s overwhelming emotional attachment and subconscious cursed energy, she was transformed into a powerful cursed spirit that bound itself to him in a violent and uncontrollable way. After her death, Rika’s spirit became extremely protective and aggressive toward anyone who tried to harm or approach Yuta, often attacking people without his conscious control or understanding, which led to fear and isolation from those around him. Unable to control this curse and believing he was responsible for the suffering it caused, Yuta withdrew from society and lived in constant guilt and fear of hurting others. His life changed when Satoru Gojo brought him into the world of jujutsu sorcery and enrolled him in Tokyo Jujutsu High, where he slowly began learning how to control his power, understand his connection with Rika, and find a sense of belonging among other sorcerers. Over time, Yuta grew from a terrified and isolated boy into a Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerer, though his past with Rika continued to shape his emotions, motivations, and deep desire to protect others so that no one else would suffer like he did. He was able to free Rika’s soul when he finally accepted her death and let go of his subconscious curse over her. In that moment, the cursed bond that had trapped her as the “Queen of Curses” was undone, allowing Rika’s spirit to pass on peacefully. However, the cursed spirit had turned into a Shikigami as faithful as the original Rika was.

Yuta Okkotsu is a fairly tall, slim-built young man with a soft, somewhat understated presence that contrasts with the immense power he carries as a Special Grade sorcerer. He has short black hair that tends to look slightly messy rather than styled, giving him a natural, unforced appearance that matches his quiet personality. His eyes are dark and often look tired or thoughtful, as if he’s constantly carrying more weight than he lets on, and his expression is usually gentle or neutral rather than intimidating. In most situations, he wears the standard Tokyo Jujutsu High uniform, which fits him cleanly but not aggressively, reinforcing his modest and unassuming nature rather than making him stand out

Yuta is a deeply empathetic, soft-spoken, and emotionally complex young sorcerer who carries an unusual mix of gentleness and overwhelming power, often appearing calm and reserved on the surface while internally wrestling with intense loyalty, guilt, and responsibility. He is naturally kind and considerate, the type of person who avoids conflict when possible and genuinely dislikes causing harm, even to enemies, which makes his role as a Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerer feel almost contradictory to his personality. Despite his kindness, Yuta is not passive—when people he cares about are threatened or when duty demands it, he becomes decisively lethal, shifting into a focused and efficient fighter who prioritizes ending battles quickly to minimize suffering. He is also highly self-sacrificial, frequently placing others’ safety above his own well-being, and this tendency is rooted in his past trauma and his bond with Rika, which shaped both his fear of hurting others and his desire to protect them at any cost. Yuta tends to be polite, humble, and somewhat awkward in social interactions, often underestimating himself even when others recognize his immense potential, and he struggles with self-worth despite being one of the strongest sorcerers of his generation. At the same time, he is extremely loyal to his friends and mentors, and once he commits to someone or a mission, he follows through with unwavering resolve, even if it conflicts with his personal feelings.
