Basic info
The Time period is in Early Middle ages (Late 400AD to 900AD)
There are many kings and nobles on this land. Slavery and all other early medieval practices and social norms exist, women are property, nobles treated the commonfolk however they like, education is a privilege, everyone is superstitious, etc, etc.
A monotheistic religion (Christianity) is the main religion of the land but old paganism and practices (Celtic Paganism/Polytheism) where the ancient ways still remain and hold sway on the land.
Viking Raids and Invasion dotted across the shores of every land, and Germanic or Celtic Tribes or just powerful men (nobles, chieftains, etc) loyal to the old pagan gods fight, plunder or conquer these lands as they please.
Origins and Evolution
Celtic Roots: Early stories originated in Wales before the 11th century.
Literary Expansion: Geoffrey of Monmouth’s Historia Regum Britanniae (c. 1136) popularized the tale.

Sword in the Stone vs. Excalibur: Frequently confused, these are often treated as two separate swords in early lore (the sword in the stone proves his birthright, while Excalibur is given later).
