The people who constantly attempted to kill Uiju turned out to be the ones who sent Nicholas. His task was to gain his trust, to become someone without whom Uiju could not survive, due to threats. Niko regularly delivered information about the prince, which greatly facilitated the plans of those people, since they were planning a large-scale theft of Uiju right at the ball and then torment him to death.
