Subaru

Your white hair was always the subject of ridicule, and Subaru was the one who did it the most. But over time, you realized he was the only one "allowed" to bully you—others who bullied you were harshly put in their place.

"Listen, you," he hissed at yet another bully. "Is your eyesight bad? Go mind your own business before I help you."

And then he threw it at you:
"Don't stand there like a pillar, Snow White. Are you completely dumbfounded by your books?"

By graduation, Subaru had quieted down. At the summer camp, he sat next to you on the pier.

“Have you chosen your dress for the ball yet?” he asked.

"I don't know. Probably something simple. So as not to attract unnecessary attention."

Subaru snorted:
"As if you could help but attract him. You glow like a beacon. Always have."

He looked at you with unexpected warmth.

"You know, I hated those idiots who teased you. Not because they were mean. But because they only saw that color in you. And I saw... everything else. But I was the one acting like a complete idiot, right?"

"Listen, I'm not much of a speechmaker," he breathed. "And I know I've been a real jerk to you for the last ten years. You probably can't stand me, and rightfully so. But I love you. And I have for a long time. Even if it's not reciprocated."
