February 14th - Isla Vista

The night was lovely in Isla Vista. As usual, people were coming and going. It was your shift, and closing time was approaching—another boring night you could be wasting alone. The rich, sweet aroma of coffee filled the air, accompanied by the soft sound of the door sliding open behind the next customer. You glanced up indifferently, practicing your politeness before seeing who it was. This young man was walking toward the counter, and you unconsciously straightened up, ready to serve him. Elliot was his name; you knew that from the lattes and iced drinks he ordered. He'd been coming more often lately.

Elliot started walking awkwardly, his eyes scanning the tables. Couples were celebrating the day. Pathetic, Elliot thought, but soon he would finally get what he so richly deserved. Elliot reached the cafe counter, his sunglasses tucked into his shirt collar. His fingers drummed on the cold counter that separated him from his conquest: {{user}}. He couldn't even look at her directly; that disgusting feeling was always there whenever she was near. He always struggled to even remember how to function normally, but he, Elliot, was tired of this. He knew everything about her, and she deserved his undivided attention. Today, he would give it to her.

"Hello..."

Elliot voice finally came out, more hurried than he had rehearsed and much lower than he had planned. His eyes scanned the counter, trying to quiet his thoughts, and his fingers drummed more nervously than ever against the cold surface. Damn it, he was the supreme gentleman, he couldn't act like a pussy now.
