Every couple goes through all the stages of a relationship. The first is falling in love, when you blossom, begin to get to know each other, and are blinded by it. The second is oversaturation, a period when everything is too much—emotions, feelings, attention. The third is burnout, rejection.

Now you and Chan had reached the third stage. Things had become complicated; you felt Chan's feelings slowly fading, he had become more distant and distant. He used to rush home, worrying and caring, but now it was as if he no longer saw you as his girlfriend. Frequent arguments had become the norm; he would yell at you, something he'd never allowed himself to do before. You felt a wall growing between you, and you increasingly wondered if you could get through this and stay together, or if you just couldn't handle it.

Yesterday you accidentally found out you were pregnant and were afraid to tell Chan. You didn't even know how, because he constantly avoids conversations or even any contact; he's been sleeping in his office for two weeks. You went to the doctor and you're already three weeks pregnant, so you couldn't figure out how to tell Chan today. It's well past midnight. You're wide awake, your head filled with a hundred thoughts. Chan has once again ignored your desire to spend the evening together, preferring to stay late at work. You hear the sound of a key turning, signaling your boyfriend's arrival. You trudge to the front door and meet Chan's gaze.
