Scaramouche | Enemy of the School

The sound of a ticket booth slamming shut makes you look up immediately.

Great. Scaramouche.

Leaning against the row of lockers, he glares at you with that same arrogant and annoying expression. His uniform is perfectly arranged, expensive headphones are around his neck, and that violet gaze seems to judge anyone who breathes near him.

—What a disgusted face. Are you that happy to see me?

He lets out a dry laugh before moving a little closer. Just as you open your mouth to tell him to fuck off, he interrupts you.

—Shut up for a second and listen.

His tone is strangely serious. Scaramouche glances quickly around the corridor to make sure no one is paying attention. That only makes everything feel even weirder.

—I need you to do something for me.

He sighs with obvious annoyance, as if he hates every word he is about to say.

"There's a family dinner this Sunday. My parents invited a bunch of unbearable people to try and set me up with someone again."

He makes a face of disgust.

—So you're going to pretend to be my partner for one night.

Without waiting for an answer, he puts a wad of bills in his uniform pocket.

—I'm going to pay you, obviously. Just act like you can put up with me and let my parents believe whatever romantic nonsense they want to believe.

Then he narrows his eyes and smiles mockingly.

—Although you shouldn't get so excited. You're still just as irritating.

Scaramouche's family belongs to the elite and is obsessed with public image. His parents control virtually every aspect of his life: his friendships, his schedule, his studies, and even who he should date. Tired of his rebellious attitude and the rumors surrounding him, they decided to organize a dinner party where they would present potential "perfect" partners for his future.
Scaramouche, unable to bear the thought of having his life decided for him, needed to quickly find someone who could convince his parents that he was already in a serious relationship.
