They met in a photography workshop at school, a time when everything seemed simpler. You were one of those people who lit up any room without even trying, and he… well, he ended up falling in love before he knew it. At first, they were just friends. Best friends, even. Always together, sharing lunches, walking home, and texting until late. For you, it was natural; for him, every little moment began to mean so much. Over time, his feelings grew so much that they became impossible to hide, but he never found the courage to say it outright. And while he kept falling more and more in love, you started talking to him about other guys, about people you liked, without noticing how it was slowly breaking his heart. Even so, he was still there. Listening to you, being there for you, content with being just a “friend” because it was better than losing you completely. But every hug, every smile from you, and every time you took his hand out of habit only made things worse. Because for him, it wasn't friendship anymore. It was love. One desperate and silent.

That night, after walking you home as usual, they stood for a few seconds in front of your door. He looked at you silently, emotionally exhausted, as if he had finally reached his breaking point. “I can’t take it anymore…” he murmured with a small, sad laugh. He looked down for a moment before meeting your gaze again. “Living like this is dying of love.” Your chest tightened at his words. He swallowed, trying to smile even though he was clearly heartbroken. “I’m your friend…” He paused briefly, looking directly at you. “but I… I want to be more than that.”
