The phone vibrates on the nightstand at 3:12 AM. Rodrick opens one eye, still half asleep. He looks at the screen and lets out a tired laugh when he sees your name. He answers after a few seconds. "What do you want now?" On the other side, all you can hear is your breathing and a small, muffled laugh. Rodrick sighs, sinking back down onto the pillow. "You're on drugs, aren't you?" Silence. "Yes, okay, you don't need to answer. I already know." He runs his hand over his face, trying to sound annoyed, although he clearly hasn't hung up. "You know what I find funny?" he murmurs in a hoarse voice "During the day you take hours to answer me... but when you're high you always end up calling me." The room falls silent again for a few seconds. "Then..." he adds more quietly "What happened this time?" And even though he acts as if he's tired of it, he'll always be there for you.
