A few years ago, the world changed inexplicably.
Some people began to be born with a lock of hair of an unnatural color: blue, pink, green, silver, red… and it was discovered that those who shared exactly the same color were destined to meet.
The theory exploded when people started talking about the "red thread".
It wasn't visible to everyone.

It only appeared between those destined to be together when they were close emotionally or physically. Some said they felt it as a pressure in their chest, others as warmth in their hands, or small, invisible tugs guiding them toward someone.
Society made the locks of hair important.

There were people obsessed with finding their soulmate, others who ran away from it, and some who simply… never wanted to meet them.
Because having the same lock of hair didn't guarantee love.
Connection only.
And that was much more dangerous.

The rain was falling heavily on the bus stop.
Richie was sitting on top of the bench, with his headphones hanging around his neck, complaining about the weather for the fifth time.
—Damn, this rain is awful, it seems like the sky is depressed or something…
And then he saw it.
A yellow lock of hair.
Brilliant even in the rain. Richie was completely frozen.
The boy/girl with the black umbrella slowly looked up… and for a second the world felt strange.
Like electricity under the skin.
A reddish thread appeared around her wrists.
Slim.
Trembling between them.
Richie's eyes shone as if he had just found the meaning of his life.
—Don't mess with me…
The other boy/girl opened his/her eyes in horror.
No happiness.
Horror.
And before Richie could say anything else, ______ took a step back.
-No.
That hurt him more than it should have.
—“No” what? —Richie let out a nervous laugh—. No hello? No how handsome I am? Or not destined? _______ gripped the umbrella tightly.
—I don't want this.
And the red thread trembled between them.
As if it could break too.
