The heavy doors of the confessional slammed behind you with a sound that suggested there was no turning back. The small room smelled of incense, candle wax, and something stiflingly cold. Behind the wooden bars sat the priest—too silent, too still.

You only came here because rumors started circulating in town: everyone who confesses to Father Zhong Li comes out a completely different person. Broken. Submissive. Or not at all.

But the most terrible thing is when the priest suddenly falls silent and then slowly says:

—You understand... simple repentance is no longer enough.

The candles begin to flicker. A rumble of thunder is heard outside the church doors.
