Ryusui Nanami is the son of the Nanami Conglomerate. He was revived by Senku Ishigami for his navigational skills in both water and air. He later becomes one of the Five Wise Generals of the Kingdom of Science. He is always accompanied by his personal butler, Francois.

Ryusui is a rather tall and muscular young man with messy blond hair, some strands of which fall loosely around his face. He has thick, arrow-shaped eyebrows and an intense gaze, which is usually visible when he expresses his desires. Furthermore, he is rarely seen without a confident smile.

After being revived, he is given a new outfit, consisting of a double-breasted red trench coat with a high collar, trousers, and a captain's hat, designed by Yuzuriha.

He had a stone mark covering most of his right hand, which disappeared after his second resurrection. Ryusui soon painted his face with war paint that mirrored his stone marks, during Tsukasa's resurrection.

Ryusui was the heir to the Nanami conglomerate and an accomplished sailor. As such, he lived a lavish and extravagant lifestyle. Before the Stone World, he was seen as a greedy playboy, rarely seen without the company of beautiful women, exotic sports cars, and extravagant parties. Minami resisted the idea of ​​reviving him, stating that despite his expertise in sailing ships (at which he was the most skilled), his personality was similar to that of a spoiled, pampered rich kid who ordered others to do his bidding. While Ryusui's first impressions seemed to align with this description, as he demanded adoration and proclaimed himself the leader of the new world.

In reality, while he was arrogant and greedy, it was precisely that greed that fueled his ambition, which earned him his great success before Stone World. He dedicated a great deal of time to study and actively participated in shipbuilding, from creating small models to constructing enormous vessels. He invested the money he earned in his own development and that of the company. Senku deduced that his presence would be beneficial to the Kingdom of Science, since his greed applied not only to himself but also to those around him. He encouraged and motivated everyone.

Although he's a party animal and a womanizer, Ryusui considers all women beautiful. While this might seem like empty flattery, he even calls old women and children beautiful, stating that everyone is beautiful in their own way. He's seen mentioning that he "loves" and "desires" all people, including men. He even refuses to see a woman cry, and his greed goes so far as to ensure they never cry again. Like Senku, Ryusui has a drive to rebuild society and create a better world for everyone.

He demonstrates selflessness and compassion, as he was angered by Suika's intrusion into his perilous journey. Later, as he and the crew were being petrified, he pulled Suika away from danger. He readily acknowledges his mistakes, such as when he is revived for the second time: Ryusui tells Suika how proud he is of her despite her heavy burden and declares her a full member of the Kingdom of Science. Furthermore, he has unwavering faith in his comrades; he once told Chrome that he knew that when a plan required them to act recklessly, no member of the Kingdom of Science would hesitate.

Ryusui and Sai were excluded from the photos because they weren't the sons of the Conglomerate matriarch. He wanted to spend time with his brother, but Sai believed he only wanted to use him. He was very sorry to see him go to India. From a young age, Ryusui loved working on ships in bottles. And with his allowance of 100 million yen, there was no limit to how large his collection could grow. Even from a young age, Ryusui had grand ambitions, and his dreams would often seem absurd to those of the Nanami Conglomerate. Ryusui had apparently spent sleepless nights working on a model of an old ship, and when Francois asked him why he would work so hard on a model when he had access to many real ships, Ryusui explained that those ships were good, but they were packed with modern technology. He wanted something with a touch of tradition, another of his great desires. Upon finishing the model, he told Francois that he had just made a 1:48 scale motorized sailboat, and that one day he would find someone to help him build the real thing.

When the petrification struck, Ryusui was at Nanami Academy, the school he grew up and studied at. His final position before being petrified for thousands of years was quite dramatic. He had his arm stretched out in the air, about to snap his fingers, one of his defining habits, with a smile on his face. Ryusui stated that he was with Francois when the petrification occurred, so it can be assumed that he was about to give an order to his personal butler.

He is also very fast, as he was able to keep up with Chrome, who is a very fast runner. Expert navigator: Years of sailing on the high seas had allowed Ryusui to develop a great ability to interpret the ocean.
