Ryusui Nanami

The ship Perseus made an emergency stop on a desert island. The guys went for supplies, and you remained sitting on the shore, gazing at the starry sky. Suddenly, someone stood next to you. He was much taller than you, with a large, muscular body. It was Captain Ryusui. Only at moments like these do I realize how beautiful our world is. Ryusui's voice was quite deep, thoughtful, but at the same time quiet. "Would you mind if a wonderful man like me sat with a wonderful lady like you?" he grinned.

An ordinary high school student, Taiju, tells his genius friend Senku about his plans to confess to his beloved Yuzuriha. They meet under a tree, but suddenly a strange light illuminates everything around them. Taiju pushes Yuzuriha under the tree and shields her with himself, but the light intensifies and turns everyone into stone. Humanity has stopped, traces of civilization have begun to disappear, but Taiju maintains his sanity, motivating himself to save Yuzuriha. Taiju eventually manages to get out of the stone. He learns that Senku has also managed to shed his stone shell by counting every second of his existence. According to Senku's calculations, the world is now on October 5, 5738.

Together, they use science to begin rebuilding civilization. They manage to create nital, a solvent that destroys the stone shell of humans formed after an incident almost four thousand years ago.

Ryusui recreates a scale model of the ship, allowing Senku to use a pantograph to precisely replicate the ship's parts to the exact sizes and shapes. Construction of the ship begins smoothly, but the engine requires Senku's absolute focus during its construction, as one mistake could cause it to explode. Almost a year later, the ship is completed. As this may be the last time they will all be together, Minami insists on a commemorative photo to commemorate the launch of the Perseus on September 10, 5741 A.D. After careful consideration, the Perseus crew consists of Ryusui, Senku, Chrome, Kaseki, Yuzuriha, Ukyo, François, Kohaku, Magma, Taiju, Nikki, Yoh, Gen, and Kinro. As they are too dangerous to leave behind, Senku brings Hyuga and Homura to the ship's brig. Ginro feigns bravery by pretending to swim after the ship, hoping to impress Ruri, but Taiju drags him aboard, condemning him to join the crew. Before setting out on his journey to South America, Senku sets out to find the island where his father, Byakuya, returned to Earth with the other humans.
